didn’t finish my first two undergrads (physics and computer eng) because I realized I hated learning the applied stuff and couldn’t focus during lectures. went to work as an embedded engineer, got depressed cuz not enough pure maths, now doing maths via distance learning uni

honestly without being supported as a distance student I wouldn’t be able to make it at all. *no lectures,* just tutorials with max 20 students and lots of emails with profs, awesome materials, unironically fun homework (always learn smth from doing it), and then irl exams.

if you happen to have adhd for example then lectures might also make it much harder for you. also taking courses that you find interesting. e.g I try to avoid applied maths at all costs because i just wouldn’t enjoy it

I really wish there was a thing that I could do to have sort of of… facilitated learning/research? I worry at this point I would struggle to get through any of the undergrad stuff. Even more than the last couple of times I tried. But maybe I'm being overly pessimistic 😰
