The Simpsons is enduring as meme material because it's shared cultural context for almost any English speaker of roughly my generation. But with its decline in quality over the years, I wonder if the Simpsons is still culturally relevant to younger people.

I’ve never watched it

Wow! I would guess that you're roughly the same age as me, though. How did you miss it in the 90s?

My mom literally cut our cable wires.

Wow :o in Australia it was broadcast on free-to-air channels ad nauseam to the point that most Australians my age can quote extended sequences from memory.

Lol our family couldn't stand the sound of it so we never watched it as a back in the day. I must have inherited that prejudice, haha - still can't stand them! 😅

My grandmother couldn't stand the voices either. Maybe it's a generational thing. I can't stand the voices (and a lot else) on Rick and Morty either but younger people seem to like that show.

I admit, the Simpsons voices (and in Rick and Morty, and most modern adult cartoons) are soo grating I have a hard time watching them, even when I see a good meme. And the humour is usually not my style.

Yeah, tbh I've found that I can eventually get used to the voices. Even with kids animation from the US it can be annoying. Eg. initially I found the voices of the main characters of Adventure Time and Steven Universe to be annoying, but was glad I stuck it out.

Like, I'd definitely prefer it if they toned it down, but yeah, it's kind of like tags on T-shirts or other such annoyances. Maybe it's more a sound-sensitivity (possible ASD?) thing I struggle with. Eg. I can't stand mechanical keyboards etc.
