although de Bruijn I can understand because that diphthong is, uh, cursed

been trying to get better at pronouncing names like 'Gödel' (kind of like 'gerdle' I think?) but yeah, I probably should practice 'Bruijn' more - I think in my head I say 'Broo-in', but I'm sure that is wrong 😬

"gerdle" is basically right. the vowel in Bruijn sounds more or less like a thick Scottish rendition of "out"

Ohhh yeah I think I can imagine it now. I think I was trying to learn this a while back but must of forgot. Others suggesting 'de BROIN' as an approximation: biostars.org/p/7186/ – others saying 'don't try lol'
