So schools now generally require chicken pox vaccines, but if you look at the policies they never call it chicken pox. They call it "varicella". I wonder if they did that on purpose on the assumption if it was just chicken pox parents would go "but it's just chicken pox!"

Megan and I are going to be the last [north American] generation to get Shingles. That's fascinating. In a hundred years everyone will have forgotten shingles exists, doctors won't remember how to treat it when the isolated people who do get it show up

It's such a weird generational edge to be on where anyone ~younger than me doesn't know that parents used to deliberately infect their kids with each other's chicken pox as like.. a normal thing.
