Got my first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 today! 🎉 I'm young, but I weighed up the risks to myself and the community, and got it anyway. Thinking of those in other parts of the world who could be waiting for a long while yet til they get theirs. 😔

For those in the US and Europe amazed at why I'm only getting it now, Australia has bungled its vaccination program pretty badly meaning that we have a glut of AstraZenca, and a limited supply of Pfizer. Only a small proportion of us are fully vaccinated: abc.net.au/news/2021-03-0

For younger Australians this could mean we could mean waiting until later this year, or perhaps even into 2022 for a 'recommended' vaccine, like Pfizer or Moderna. We are allowed to opt for the AstraZeneca if we are aware of the elevated risks (which are still relatively small).

Correction: I did in fact get a vaccination today and was _not_ injected with COVID-19. Yet again wishing Twitter had an edit button. 😂

Thanks! Yeah, fingers crossed – I know they can be intense! If I do at least I know it's my body learning stuff. 😊
