Just wondering because a lot of my intuition for ethics is based on my religious Jewish elementary school education, even though I'm now an atheist. I'm surprised how consistent it is with, say, professional ethics codes in computer science

Young atheist me was annoyed at my religious education, but older atheist me can separate the philosophy from the theism, and very very strongly appreciations the philosophy I had a chance to learn from such a young age

Yeah, it's something I started noticing this year, too: the religious upbringing I had lead to me having a different personality and set of values, even as a current atheist, than most of my born-atheist friends have

Somehow I became a "Catholic Atheist": I don't believe in God and mistrust the hierarchies of the Church, but my moral code is informed by the theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity... about my fellow humans, not about God. Virtue-based ethics sucks though.
