There's of course reddit.com/r/ProgrammingL and its discord discord.gg/4Kjt3ZE but it's a lot more "casual" than LtU. More like the "create your own programming language club" than a research community :)

I think there is quite a bit of casual, entry level stuff on the discord, but there’s also a bunch of knowledgeable people on the theory side! I think a mix of this stuff is pretty healthy!
(makes sure that the academics can still explain stuff to regular folks, and that the regular folk get exposed to the cool ideas from research)

I would say that the subreddit can end up skewing a bit toxic and gatekeeperish at times, which can be unfortunate – especially given how much effort has been put into making the discord a welcoming place… 😔
Yeah the mix is definitely healthy. It helps somewhat ground the discussion on UX, which I find lacking in research.
