Why is JavaScript hardly taught in any major universities?

Based on the current market, it should be 80% of the entire curriculum!

Ugh, agree with this so much. Also, trying to keep up with industry trends by deeply integrating it into course work seems troublesome. What about in five or ten years time when students are forced to learn a bunch of out-dated course work on JS?

I am really glad I did the first part of Dan Grossman's coursera course. For me at least, while it was in Standard ML, the same principles helped my quickly pick up Ruby, Rails, JS, Ember, React, on the job in my first industry internships.
