CW: dating, loneliness, Melbourne lockdown Felt this a bunch this year, but I feel it's kind of difficult to talk about. Like, who am I to complain when others are struggling with kids, abusive partners, losing jobs, homes, etc?

I don't know who wants to hear this, but being single during this pandemic has been downright dreadful. I'm not taking away from the seriousness of the pandemic. Please take it seriously, but by God has it been hard when you simply don't have anyone to share time with.

But yeah, all my hopes for dating this year went out the window. Was hoping that my energy for it would come back after the lockdown lifted, but I just ended up deleting a bunch of apps in exhaustion/frustration and lingering worries about the virus.

Given the state of the pandemic in Australia I've been fortunate to travel to see family this Christmas, and have been able to see some old friends again in person. Feeling for all those single, living alone, and struggling with loneliness, especially over Christmas.
