Do you need a university degree to become a software developer?
Do you need paid courses and certificates?
❌ No.
What you need is:
- A computer.
- Access to internet.
- Willingness to learn.
That's all 💪
Can we stop promulgating this notion plz?
I’ve worked with bootcampers, self learners, and CS grads, and almost always the CS grads produce better code.
Btw, I have a Civil Engr. degree and working as an SE so my biased is on your side.
If you can, go get your CS degree, it’ll benefit you.
If you can’t, learn on your own but don’t just focus on building websites. Learn CS fundamentals.
Some examples of useful things to learn: algorithms, data structures, programming language design/theory, discrete mathematics. I don't have a degree, but I try to pick these up on the side, and I've found it really useful!
