the short version: afraid I’m the lazy fuckup I was always told I was; constantly trying to achieve to prove I’m not; inevitably burning out; “proving” to myself that I can’t hack it, and must be a lazy fuckup.

and unfortunately the metaphor is pretty apt: by one’s mid-30s there is a LOT of stack to unwind if one wants to escape the loop and continue.
