What I see is a bunch of powerful people complaining because the social base (made out of otherwise powerless individuals) might hold them accountable.
Those are not powerful people. They are writers, arists, chess players and intellectuals. And they are on the side of the "social base". It seems that many cannot tell the difference between holding someone accountable and just directing hatred and abuse at them.
The billons cary responsibility and inherent power yes, but is J. K. Rowling on a par with the owners of the big tech companies, politicans, and the media moguls? I undertood "power" in that sense.
Ah, because big tech companies, politicians and media moguls are so welcoming towards Black and trans people? Compare the power and platform that Rowling has with the one of any of her detractors.
