In our industry and we never do training on how to teach people things. Maybe a little bit would go a long way.

Yeah, especially when we are so reliant on knowledge transfer. I really appreciated working with a developer who was a former language teacher - he was great at teaching some of the foundational stuff about teaching - it's pretty empowering to know it's a skill you can learn!

Stuff like, 'asking people directly if they understand something isn't reliable - prefer asking questions that that test how much they understood, then adapt your approach based on that information'.
