Feel like I might have been one of those advocating for Sender/Receiver early on - for that I’m sorry!

I think Sender/Receiver are *excellent* names -- it's just the global-rename oughta've caught the other conventions

Have a feeling tx/rx was slightly after, because folks were annoyed with writing out the names in full.
hmm, that could be it, yeah, I'm not 100% on the timeline. which is one git blame away btw!
