Is there a good app/website/tool/etc to track my favorite research papers? e.g. something like
Conversation
I use to categorize, flag and rate the papers I read or intend to read, it also lets me annotate the papers in the app. I'd like a place like Goodreads where I can see other people's favorite papers, but I guess I'll just keep using Twitter for that. 🙃

This looks quite similar to something like Mendeley or Zotero. Is there anything that makes this particularly good?

I use too. It's pretty good, but I still end up with a categorization/filing mess at the end of the day. Wish there was a way to automatically train it to make connections between stuff in this day and age… want easy cross-links between references too.

Also development seems to have slowed down since they were acquired by a big company, which has been a shame (as a paying customer). Not sure what they are up to these days.

Oh, seems like has 'upgraded' to one of those terrible subscription plans. I guess as an independent researcher I'm now classified as a 'corporate' user… hum. Or is it more a difference in feature/support level? papersapp.com/pricing/

Oh no, it looks like it's a silly web app too. Ugh. Sorry, all my hopes and dreams are dying here. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

yeah it seems like Papers 3 and Readcube Papers are different apps, which is quite sad because Papers 3 was almost perfect for me. I guess I can keep using it for now but this is quite unfortunate.

Yeah - I guess looks ok, but on the surface the UI seems even less native looking than whatever Papers 3 introduced.
I use Zotero and it looks a bit crap on mac but seems to work ok so far.
