In the end you are effectively voting for another Liberal governement. Thats what happens when the lefter side of the vote is split to independents. Simple as that, sorry.

I don't see how that is the case. It is possible to direct where your preference will go. You do know this don't you?

Of course. But splitting the left side of the vote, even for good reasons, dilutes the first preference votes for the only real alternative government. Independents create instability & risk the vote for change. In decades, I am yet to see the approach be helpful: just u/mining

How many representatives get in on first preference? Bugger all. I don't see that as a valid point. I don't think independants will make governance more unstable. I doubt that's possible.
