This is why I always look at Haskell libraries for inspiration when I want to design a new library for Rust/some other language. I'm also looking more at Elm, OCaml, Agda, Idris and Coq libraries these days as well for inspiration. So many great ideas to be mined.

I would say that one thing that is often overlooked in libraries in these languages is predictability over data layout, performance, and allocation. The practice of making Rust ports often brings clarity to this, at the expense of some compositionality/API cleanliness/etc.
