people acting like internalizing a handful of examples of a concept doesn't help you understand the concept

There's a difference between and handful of examples, and the soul-crushing hundreds that they used to expect me and other kids to memorise by heart, without ever showing the deeper beauty of it all. Not very pleasant in my case, as a young kid with undiagnosed ADD. ☹️

But as Julie says in another sub-thread, we can have our cake and eat it too, I'm just saying I understand why this would bring up traumatic experiences for people.
