As a non-academic consumer of academic work, trying to do research-transfer: I desperately wish there was an incentive for more simplicity/understandability. Also: explaining context within the ongoing research conversation. Better yet, survey papers! 💖💖💖 survey papers.

Hypothesis: A certain class of papers accepted with middling scores are more influential than papers with high scores precisely for the reason reviewers only sorta liked them: they are so understandable they seem obvious (but weren’t before reading).
