It's the counterpart to tcplife. I've suggested other people create this tool as a learning exercise (hence the exercise in the book) but today we needed it at Netflix, so I ended up coding the first version!

Firefox Profiler has it 🎉. It is Firefox's next-generation performance tool which will replace the current Performance panel. For early adopters: It has sharing build in. Here is a flame graph for twitter to play with:

Can Chrome/Firefox dev tools please add a Flame Graph mode (sort by alphabet)? Imagine merging all these thin towers as one readable overview.

update: thousands more copies are in transit to both Amazon US and UK, estimated to arrive today in the US, don't know yet when for the UK. Once Amazon scans them their status messages will change. There'll also be another print run ASAP.

Sorry for the delays everyone, I'll let you know when I know more. If it's any consolation, I don't have a copy myself yet! (I'm referring to it for some perf work, and I'm getting tired of alt-tabbing to the PDF)

The BPF Performance Tools book immediately sold out on Amazon (thanks for getting it!) I think there are still copies on InformIT while they print more
