There is an exception from certain coordination rules if a super PAC draws from a public source, but it doesn't apply here. The FEC is clear that the "publicly available" exception does not apply when the super PAC runs ads at the "request or suggestion" of the campaign.pic.twitter.com/4mxbungotw
The FEC’s failure to enforce its coordination rules since Citizens United (and its recent lack of a quorum) has encouraged super PACs and candidates to find new ways to work closely with one another. But Buttigieg's detailed request for super PAC spending crosses a legal line.
