...sometimes, candidates don't want a donor to show up on their campaign report, so they'll direct them to give to a leadership PAC. If you are looking for officeholders to waver on, for example, no corporate PAC or no fossil fuel pledges, leadership PACs are where to look.

Leadership PAC fundraisers are often held at the country clubs or luxury resorts where megadonors feel comfortable. Even if this is legal, it doesn't look good. It contributes to a system where members are spending more time with the wealthy few than the people they represent.

Two, how is the money being spent? Given the lack of oversight by the FEC, leadership PACs are routinely used as slush funds.
