A lot of tweets about miss that 02 February 2020 is a palindrome in USA, UK and ISO formats; it is a palindrome day of the year (33) and there are a palindrome of days left in the year (333). This will never happen again. More details here:

Never send an imperative language to do a declarative language’s job.

The weirdest yarn 2 complaint is "they're making us use prolog now!" 1. No one is making you. 2. It's the right tool for the job. You _declare_ constraints, an imperative language like JavaScript doesn't provide the correct tools to do that with. JavaScript is not omnipotent.

Is yarn 2 finished? Not by a long shot. The node_modules plugin needs to be polished, some dearly needed commands are missing (e.g. npm info) and it really really needs to be tested by more people with more environments and setups. Is it ready for more mainstream usage? YES!

As a maintainer of a couple of internal libraries that contain multiple packages per repo, constraints are a godsend. No more problems if I update all angular packages and one open PR adds a new dependency on the previous version. This has already prevented so much bugs.

As someone who switches between two branches with different typescript versions multiple times a day, the install step is a problem. It takes too long and it's easy to forget. Big thanks to Jenkins for catching me using ts 3.4 features on our 3.2 branch. It's needless friction.

The amount of times I've seen developers just disable the no-transitive-dependencies rule in tslint/eslint is too damn high. "It works, doesn't it?" is a bad answer if it only works accidentally.

The node_modules folder works, kind of. It's easy to create packages that import dependencies they don't list. This lack of validation has made us lazy. Loading transitive dependencies is made possible by hoisting, so why list a dependency of a dependency yourself?

A lot of the current friction is caused by packages that have partially implemented their own node resolution algorithm or expect ./node_modules/.bin to contain all locally installed package binaries. I'm guilty of this myself, and I look forward to rectifying these mistakes.

Yarn 2 changes things. Its introduction might ruffle feathers, but all changes do. It's a breath of fresh air in a package ecosystem that has been held hostage by old choices for so long, our Stockholm syndrome has convinced us everything is fine.

Bevestigd: het is zijn echte identiteitskaart. De achterkant is zelfs ook beschikbaar online. Ik heb een vrij goed idee wie het volgende slachtoffer van identiteitsfraude zal zijn. De ironiemeter is zonet ontploft.

A vision of a low carbon high quality society is easy to dismiss. The path to get there is not clear, to say the least. And you can bet that the powers of the status quo don't want to imagine it, at all.

If you do two things today: (1) read vision of a world transformed by our courage, action & love. Then (2) give yourself the gift of letting your own imagination roam. Picture the world you really want to see & your own role in creating it.

Straf.
