VW Group is taking the unprecedented step of consulting with disabled Americans on what's needed to make robotaxis a life changing reality. I am proud to bepart of this because it isn't just jawboning, it is actually taking needs into product development.https://media.vw.com/en-us/releases/1154 …

Not only is this the right thing to do neighbors and family members who face mobility challenges, it is finding a way to expedite robotaxi fleets for Americans with Disabilities Act compliance. Disabled, govt. agencies, VW engineers solving this together.

What is unprecedented is the degree to which the consultation with blind, deaf and disabled groups is channeling directly into product development to directly influence design decisions on future product. No other company has gone that far. Ask disabled advocates.

A great initiative 👏 But why not engage with all customer segments? Every segment surely has special needs & wants. A smart business will give as many as possible customers EXACTLY what they want, lest they find it in an opposition's product & embrace that brand for life...

As disabled advocates and advisors have told us, design for unique needs often benefits all. Examples they use include the TV remote control. Our point is that true AVs have revolutionary potential for blind and disabled persons. We want to accelerate that day’s arrival.

Tragically, doing market research in a key target group has become 'unprecedenred.'
