President Trump's lawyers have filed their D.C. Cir. brief challenging a House subpoena for his financial records. They're doubling down on the argument that Congress "is attempting to exercise law-enforcement powers."pic.twitter.com/On5OP4K9SY

Trump's lawyers argue that if Congress has an interest in examining the president's financial records, it could also scrutinize those of Supreme Court justices.pic.twitter.com/9O8gwcfQX9

Trump's lawyers argue in a new D.C. Cir. brief that Congress does not have the power to investigate whether the president broke the law. They say only the executive branch - the people who work for the president - is allowed to determine whether the president broke the law.pic.twitter.com/gVazwHUt86

Trump's lawyers say "Congress is simply not allowed to conduct law-enforcement investigations of the president." That includes the Watergate and Whitewater investigations, which they said didn't involve subpoenas that were "resisted, litigated and upheld."pic.twitter.com/r0KtDYOdEU

Trump's lawyers say things might be different if the House was conducting an impeachment inquiry, because impeachment is a "non-legislative power."pic.twitter.com/DFojJycps4

Trump's lawyers are shaping this up as a pretty significant test of Congressional power. Here's the link: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6146001-Document.html …pic.twitter.com/juR2WTUGTD

A corrupt Supreme Court justice would be just as viable a target of impeachment proceedings as any other government official. So, yes, Congress could see whether a Justice was receiving bribes for favorable treatment.

I do my own taxes each year and I'm not familiar with the line item you report bribes on.

The mention that it could lead to scrutinizing financial records of Supreme Court justices appears to be a thinly veiled threat directed at Kavanaugh.
