"As websites became responsive, they became a mess of flat colors." http://www.elischiff.com/blog/2015/4/21/fall-of-the-designer-part-iii-responsive-design … The hell did I just read?

I think there are some good points in there about flat design's limitations, but none of that has to do with responsive design.

@brad_frost I was deliberate to say responsive was inappropriately paired with minimalist design and it has much to offer on its own.

@eli_schiff I feel you're conflating two issues, and as a result implying responsive design is responsible for poorly executed flat design.

@brad_frost Funny thing is I actually ventured to say the opposite: that responsive design was a false justification for imposing flatness.

@brad_frost Clickbaity title. Designer complaining about design trends, sounds about a normal day on the internet.

@brad_frost Sounds like someone is butthurt they can’t overuse gradients in their designs anymore.

@vasuvasu @brad_frost I took him to task for misrepresenting things (long thread): https://twitter.com/robpenner/status/590968141833895936 … He's edited the article after.

      Robert Penner added,

      Robert Penner @robpenner
@MattRix @flyosity Victor didn't advocate "code first". @eli_schiff completely missed the point of the article. It's all about design first.

@Twitterrific @vasuvasu @brad_frost Focus of articles seems to be designer job security, prestige, distinctiveness vs serving the user.

@kyle_conrad There seem to be some good points in there about flat design. But none of that is related to responsive design.

@brad_frost agreed - it seems like he's equating the two, instead of separating out the different pieces.

@brad_frost I also don't like the idea that "oh there's only TWO design philosophies" out there kind of thing.
