Re grid backup - the grid will need up to ~30 days storage for full backup of renewables, so V2G is only a small part of solution. I think H2 will do the heavy lifting.

Hydrogen is definitely good for longer term storage, but BEVs feeding back into the grid is a no brainer once battery longevity improves (like how Tesla’s latest patents portend). I’d be interested in reading about the 30 day requirement if you have an article or paper to link.
