    I’m normally a strong defender of the BBC, but in allowing only Boris Johnson to wriggle out of being interviewed by Andrew Neil, they really have been played like a piano. What a farce.

    The Prime Minister will be interviewed on tomorrow's Andrew Marr programme. Statement here.

    Deeply concerned that Npower's customer service centre at Rainton Bridge is under threat of closure, risking thousands of local jobs. I've spoken with senior management at Npower about how they'll support those affected. Vital the next government does all it can to help

    Today there are over 1,000 fewer police officers on streets in the north east than there were in 2010. The thin blue line keeps getting thinner in parts of the country the Tories don't care about. The price of austerity: people feel less safe in their own community.
