  1. A few months to go and the same faces continue to spread the same falsehoods unchallenged. Redwood says the "majority" of our trade is on WTO terms - in fact the vast majority is through EU deals. This should be called out not rewarded with interview slots & knighthoods.

  4. Word of the day: "tsundoku" - the act or art of acquiring more books than one will ever actually read, such that they gather in stacks & flocks on shelves and floors (Japanese, 積ん読, lit. "pile up-read"). Especially common after Christmas. Share your tsundoku images here...

THREAD (sorry): 1/8 Over Christmas, there's sometimes a mini "silly season" when smallish stories are suddenly elevated to the front pages, once the Christmas basket and the National Archives revelations are used up.

Hello Twitterverse: if it’s ok to borrow your brain for a moment. I’m looking for book recommendations, if people have any? On the look out for a series that I can work through. If anyone had suggestions that would be really appreciated 🙏🏻. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Trough gardening is the greatest fun. It gives scope for any amount of experiment and ingenuity. Any handyman could build up a container from old bricks or oddments of stone to a height of 3 or 4’ from the ground against the house wall—

Since we started, the TV viewing landscape has changed so much, and will change much more. Yet a show about community, written by women, made by women, featuring women's lives and relationships, continues to speak to so many in a divided nation. There's hope in that. x

Funny, this Government is finding so many money trees whilst continuing to under-fund the NHS, education, housing, social care, police/prison services - in fact all public services. Also aren't they supposed to do cost/benefit analysis before spending public money ie our taxes?

On 6th March 1987 I was 11. I was at Scouts in Deal. A leader came and whispered "Which ship is your dad on, Jon?". My dad was a Townsend Thoresen officer on the Zeebrugge run that night. He was on a different ship. Another kid in the group had a dad on the Herald. His dad died.

My first Brexit Blog post of 2019. With MPs about to take crucial decisions, I discuss why Brexit misreads the realities of a regionalized and multi-polar world, and would be an historic abandonment of economic and geo-political strategy:

This is where Brexit starts to get very interesting. Enterprising journos need to follow the money on govt contracts going to ‘new British businesses’ like this. Same with private insurance replacing EHIC cover. How are MPs connected? Via party donation? Family? Acquaintances?

😂 Oh Jeremy Hunt !🤣 Singapore is a member of ASEAN, the Association of South East Asian Nations. It's a regional partnership that includes free movement of workers and keeping laws similar. Basically it's the South Asian version of the EU!

It's very difficult to understand the logic that a 2nd referendum would be a problem for democracy. If people still want to leave, they can vote to do so. If they don't still want to, it wouldn't be democratic to proceed.

A couple of my colleagues in their mid 20s struggling through the first day back & agonising over the realisation that this is IT. "Metro, boulot, dodo" for the rest of their lives...sat gawping at screens & pressing buttons. "There's got to be more to life than this."
