Been in SF for 2 hours and it’s heartbreaking. Streets lined with people keeled over, worse than ever. Drugs everywhere. I step into one store where a shoplifter gets caught and beats up a cashier until the police come. Heading back to the airport. Congrats @chesaboudin!

Idiot comment meant to charge up the base. SF is great 👍 if you go looking for shit (anywhere in America) you’re going to find it. There just aren’t enough programs in place to help ppl at risk. Especially mental health.

Opioid epidemic ain't happening in SF (or CA). But let's keep cherry picking.

Don’t disagree. Opioid problem is a big problem in SF and CA as well as all major cities. Amplified by port cities (easier access to drugs) with better weather than most of America. What I object to is ppl trying to politicize this problem. Bashing CA is a fav Trump and R theme

I was agreeing w/you. Opioid problem is middle America/mid-Atlantic, not driven by inner city. Large scale studies show per capita death highest in rural areas and states. Urban areas have their problems; ex-urban has its own problems. Gotta figure out solutions all around.

The criticism of CA and SF long predates Trump. The vagrancy problem there is not a “find what you’re looking for” thing. It’s absolutely everywhere and in higher numbers than anywhere else. Book yourself a trip. See it with your own eyes. It’s hellish.

I just moved out of LA after 7 years; heading to TN. One of the main reasons was after living in several apartments, I’d had over a dozen encounters with human feces and urine, right outside my doorstep. My experience is not unique. CA is absolutely botching this.

SF spends over $50k per homeless person, los angeles is around $35k, just to clean up after them, provide them with drug needles, free tents, food, supplies, etc. They live free and comfortable, able to indulge their addictions. And CA calls this “compassion”.

“bashing CA” can exist outside of politics. But it just so happens that CA is a Democrat supermaj. Every single liberal CA friend i have agrees on this. The homeless issue is out of control. That’s why me, and droves of us have left for *cleaner* pastures.

I agree the homeless issue in SF is problematic, maybe even worse than other cities (I travel there a couple times a year pre-pandemic). So, what solutions do you think are better that haven’t been implemented?

Also your homeless spending numbers have been debunked by the Director of Homelessness and Supportive Housing in SF.https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/heatherknight/article/Businesses-must-contribute-more-to-city-s-13178743.php …
