    2019 is a shining year for Balsn! We organized Balsn CTF, published 25+ write-ups, attended 8+ finals, made N+ friends, got 2nd in DEFCON with HITCON, met President of Taiwan, recruited 5+ new members, ranked 2nd on CTFtime. Let's keep moving forward in 2020! Happy New Year 🎉

    Last week I solved the shittest CTF challenge this year. I learn nothing. Today, there was a challenge in I didn't solve, but I do learn a lot and enjoy it. I think I'm going to publish my top 3 favo web challenge in 2019.

    Just solved a terrible web challenge in a CTF. It's a combination of 1. require guessing 2. bugs don't make sense 3. too many phases: it's like they bundle 3 different challenges together I feel like I'm wasting time on it and just learn nothing....

    GoGo PowerSQL unintended RCE solution: 1. Pollute environment variable 2. libmysqlclient will load plugin from LIBMYSQL_PLUGINS 3. But it will append annoying .so 4. Bypass by sending 512 bytes ./././ ... 5. Load the malicious plugin from /proc/self/fd/0 6. Profit 🍊

    In a recon challenge in TrendMicro CTF, someone registered Twitter with the same username and post an encrypted zip in base64 JPEG. In a privilege escalation challenge in N1CTF, someone got root and updated the vulnerable package. And we spent lots of time analyzing those shits😭

    In the LISP challenge mirror-universe, PPP is dominating and gets 720 flags. That accounts for almost half of their attack score (and 1/4 defense score). Also, nobody else was able to solve it before network traffic was released. Those guys are just amazing.💪
