Everyone has been telling me at every step that "they are just clueless, be patient, don't cause a ruckus" I have been to many cons, including not in the West, where I was treated just fine and things were organized just fine. This is already way past 3 strikes at this point

I talked a lot about how this year I am a finalist for 3 awards and I can barely scrape the $ together to attend one. I chose this one. The past few weeks have been a continuous proof that it was a bad decision. A lot of this was behind the scenes bc I didn't make a ruckus

Now I feel like, should I have made a ruckus earlier? What should I have done? I kept on telling myself that I shd be quiet. Some of those things became public (referring to the dress code). Some maybe never will. Well now this has sailed past the... whatever it sails past.

And, I am sorry but just too upset at this point, but also I see both "we want to include marginalized people" and at the same time, marginalized people, award finalists for many different awards and even winners of them, tell me in DMs they are not on any paneling.

Thank you for the massive outpouring of support! Yes, it helps. A lot. Ppl are asking me in DM how they can offer further support. Idk? Keep Worldcon accountable, and not just for this one thing? My usual support links are in my profile, but, idk just spread the word? ♡

Worldcon's response, screencapped: "Please talk to me directly about this. It’s your public bio from elsewhere and I am happy to edit it so it reads the way you want it. Again, Worldcon did *not* write the bio." Uh?pic.twitter.com/mzzJOQQOuN

Again, I never used he pronouns. Though this is not the first time my pronouns are edited, but I usually (though not always) catch it before someone goes to print with it. If you are wondering, I get about 50-50% "he" or "she". Though "he" seems to be increasing in frequency

Just now: https://twitter.com/halleluyang/status/1021238143117275136 … If you are marginalized, even being a Hugo finalist is not enough to be on programming? (For the record, I proposed an ownvoices panel, though I only did it earlier today, in response to an email from the LGBTQ+ programming.)

Also this: https://twitter.com/RoseLemberg/status/1021251478630141952 … Why did I not just email them? (I do usually email people who get my pronouns wrong first.) Because they put up the bio without letting me know, either. Someone else who got the program before me linked me to it. It was already public

And, as I've said, this was not the first issue nor the second. All the people now coming forward with their own stories and the emails they received (especially the issue about ownvoices) make me also not want to engage, to be perfectly honest.

I did get an apology just now. https://twitter.com/worldcon2018/status/1021253687052603392 … I hope
@worldcon2018 will also investigate the highly inappropriate communications about marginalized award finalists that I linked above.Deze collectie tonen -
Catching up after my work meeting. Has Worldcon apologized for their comments on
#ownvoices panels and lack of inclusion? I now know that at least 2 of us submitted an#ownvoices panel. Mine was "The challenges and delights of writing#ownvoices LGBTQIA+ SFF"Deze collectie tonen -
In all fairness, I submitted it very recently, after a rather puzzling email from the LGBTQ+ programming track. But it had a proposed lineup of diverse pro writers inc. award-winning and finalist ones, most of whom I'd already run it by.

Getting more reports in DM and email, what you are seeing is the tip of the iceberg. :( In the meanwhile, the trolls are starting to come around, the most baffling one was one with a brand new acc, trying to lecture me on my birth gender assignment (surely I know better?)
