Sure, I'm speaking from a position of privilege, but unless you're literally interviewing for your first job in tech, you will have better options.

To be clear, it's not the whiteboard that's the problem, it's this incessant urge to test for basic skills even in the most reputable of candidates by people who read too much Spolsky in their youths and now fancy themselves genius interviewers. It's a pointless hazing ritual.

And if you really do have to do a tech interview day to be sure, here's the only one from my mentions that hasn't been terrible. Just be aware that many candidates won't have that much time to spare while interviewing, for various and usually good reasons.https://twitter.com/mildmojo/status/1171934047821389824?s=19 …

What's good about this one is that it's two way - it provides useful information to the candidate as well as to the interviewer. Most companies, when hiring, tend to forget that they're being evaluated by the candidates too. Algo pop quizzes only say "we don't know how to hire."

This is something you can only do later in your career :(
-
True. Not very much later, though. Only problem is 95% of tech companies still do this.

I dont think i would land any job if i needed to churn code at a whiteboard on demand
if only i could draw a few boxes.. maybe. But definitely code doesnt come up to me this way... -
Yes, same. It's such an absurd ritual.
