Also, remember that increased use of electricity during what are now off-peak periods will increase grid utilization and thus lower the cost of electricity. It also means that we'll have enough sales volume to absorb the cost of the needed grid capacity expansions.

I'm a big fan of heat pumps. I'm just saying they're not a silver bullet... And they need to be accompanied by load reduction. I also like ground-source, it's just a matter of value engineering the project. Whatever pencils... Do it.

We CAN get zero emissions with heat pumps and we CAN NOT get zero emissions without them. So, they do sound like a silver bullet... We can afford a grid for GSHP, but can't afford a grid for ASHP. Thus, GSHP is all that "pencils out." Load reduction is nice but non-essential.
