If we require business shutdowns without an Expense Holiday, the result is that tenants go broke while landlords' and bank's earnings are protected. The current practice protects banks, landlords, and financiers at the expense of everyone else. This is not equitable.
Our priorities are wrong. The law should not force debtors to go bankrupt while protecting creditors. If shutdown orders prohibit debtors from earning money, then creditors should be required to forego receiving debt payments.
