As a student of the Harvard Extension School, I take remotely the same courses offered to Harvard University students. My courses are taught by Harvard professors. Now, all of Harvard will be using the same teaching methods as the Extension School...

Harvard Extension School tuition varies from $1,000/course to $1,880/course for 4 undergraduate credits or $2,900/course for graduate credit. Billing is done by course, not semester, since most HES students are part-time. I've never understood why everyone doesn't enroll in HES..

The really great thing about Harvard Extension is that anyone can take courses. To get accepted as a degree candidate, you only have to show a B average in several courses. (Note: The courses are hard...) So, admission is based only on merit.
