Just sent a note to the president of my coop's board asking if any comparisons were made between heat pumps and gas. Building just switched from oil to gas. Heat pumps should be way more efficient as you could have local control of heat. No more overheated apts.

The board probably chose gas because they think it is "cheaper." While it may look that way now, gas will become much more expensive in the future. The CLCPA requires selling less gas and that means fixed costs will be a larger part of bills. Stranded assets are expensive.

Thinking of all the loaded oil barges headed upstate on the Hudson River. Adoption of heat pumps in NYS will have knock on effects on river traffic, river jobs. Significant disruptions. Less river traffic may mean more sturgeon.
