We are making fast progress on decarbonizing electricity and transportation, but we don’t talk nearly enough about heating load. As electrification pushes us to winter peaking grids, this will quickly be a big challenge in addressing climate change. What are the best solutions?

Geothermal heat pumps, thermal & electric batteries, improved envelopes and glazing, as well as intelligent control of building energy use to limit peak demand. Also, wastewater heat recovery for multifamily buildings. We have the technology. Economies of scale will lower costs.
