Billionaires are a symptom, not the disease. The problem isn't that we have billionaires, but rather that it is too easy to become one. As Andrew Carnegie said, "Where wealth accrues honorably, the people are always silent partners." Carnegie knew that great wealth is not achieved through the work of only one person. All of society creates wealth, and all of society should share in that wealth fairly. 2/3

Extraordinary contributions should be rewarded with extraordinary returns. But, no one is worthy of a billion dollars. In a well regulated, just society, we would have no billionaires but many more millionaires and no poverty. 3/3
