Ted, Geothermal heat pumps, when heating, harvest thermal energy from ground and/or ground water. ASHP systems, when heating, harvest thermal energy from air. In both cases, the bulk of the thermal energy harvested is of solar origin. GHP's also harvest some geothermal energy.
