You clearly misunderstand how ground source or geothermal heat pumps work. For a GHP with COP=3.5, when used to heat, one unit of electricity is used to produce 3.5 units of thermal energy. The 2.5 units of non-electric energy is mostly solar thermal energy stored in the ground.
