In April of 1939, Franklin D. Roosevelt became the first president of the United States to appear on television. https://www.pbs.org/30secondcandidate/timeline/years/1939.html … Also, note that the television had been in use since the 1920s (although the technology was very different from today's)

10 years later! Main points here: FDR wasn't president in 1929. FDR WAS for progressive positions and was NOT a centrist. Television was never FDR's medium for communicating to the people, and did not exist as a mass medium 'til after FDR died. Mr. Sturr was right on all points.
