NYSERDA should support geothermal heat pumps, not air source. ASHP imposes excessive peak demand on electric grids during coldest/hottest hours of the year. We can afford an electric grid that will support 100% geothermal heat pumps. We can't afford to switch 100% to ASHP.

With a 30% tax credit I think you guys can manage... =P No need to pick a tech, let's see what wins on the market. This is unlikely to shift things fast enough that grid planners can't see things coming.
