Even if you manage to get press coverage, you'll find that the press spends more time talking about how much money you've raised than they do about what your positions are or what might qualify you to serve in your desired position. The money is only part of the problem.

For those with money but unpopular ideas, they can "buy" coverage of their positions by funding the losing campaigns of those who agree with them. In this case, they aren't buying the candidate, they are buying press coverage that follows the money, not ideas.
