@jsalsman You should be aware that a significant issue is that the additional load from Beneficial Electrification (EVs and Heat Pumps) will, at some point, exhaust current electricity capacity and switch peak demand from summer to winter. We don't expect any excess capacity.

In UK nighttime load is 20% of peak, while in US it's closer to 3%. I haven't seen evidence that widespread adoption of heat pumps can approach 50% of peak load at night, even during winter and summer, and certainly not during the final decade of petroleum automobile dominance
