Perhaps exhibit A of the end times is the Con Ed “moratorium” on new peak gas connections announced in recent days.
If ConEd gas expansion moratorium is made permanent, it will benefit existing gas users by allowing the rate base and rates to decline. If only temporary, moratorium will delay new investment. That will ensure more rate increases while creating a larger stranded asset problem.
