Burning wood is causing particulate matter/smog pollution in Dublin, despite being marketed as "green". FWIW clean electricity and heat pumps remain the best way to heat IMHO. Or district heating in cities.https://twitter.com/InisEnvironment/status/1041655093211353088 …

The American Lung Association in Indiana provides grants of up to 100 percent of the costs to replace the wood boilers with Geothermal Heat Pumps. https://www.wfyi.org/news/articles/grant-program-to-help-homeowners-replace-wood-boilers …

The article's from 2015, is this program still on? It's a shame that they want to exchange outdoor boilers only and not also indoor boilers.

Sorry.. I don't know the current of the program. I believe they focused on outdoor wood burners because those are typically the worst polluters.

Thanks anyway. Now indoor wood boilers in NYS urgently need to be banned:https://twitter.com/supergate12/status/1032340454602403841?s=19 …
Seestern added,
Johnnycleanair @supergate12Replying to @andrewcuomoCuomo took wood burning to a new level of Toxic smoke by not regulating Indoor wood Boilers. He and NYSDEC should be investigated. They Shut down Outdoor wood boilers then thru a loophole promote Indoor wood boilers.@jeffsessions pic.twitter.com/oPvv5HsHm41 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
Seestern: If Wood in New York State is your interest, then you should be aware that although wood only satisfies 2% of NYS heating needs, "it is already the largest source of carbonaceous fine particulate matter in rural NYS counties" See Page S-1 in: http://www.nyserda.ny.gov/-/media/Files/Publications/Research/Biomass-Solar-Wind/15-26-NYS-Wood-Heat-Report.pdf …
