In New York State, fossil fuel space/water heating produces 35% of all GHG emissions. Transportation produces 45%. Electrical production and all electricity consumption only produces 20% of GHG emissions.
In part the low NY GHG for electricity is because in Northern NY by far most of the electricity is clean nuckear and hydro power, so gas/oil heating WILL be a larger GHG contributor in NY, even if electric heat is used, since it doesn't emit much GHG.
