Mark is speaking now. His comments are consistent with mine but also emphasizes critical scientific opportunities and assistance to health care providers—while we engage them in the public health crisis. Very smart ideas he and I have discussed before & he has done work on.11/

@Avik is speaking now. speaking about how much is falling on underserved populations. He aims to bring people back to work DURING COVID-19. Doesn’t believe in conventional wisdom that testing/tracing must happen before opening up businesses. Can’t afford to wait to open.12/4 replies 12 retweets 88 likesShow this thread -
Says vaccine can take 5-18 years. Testing will take too long. We can’t wait he says because small businesses can’t take that long. He thinks elderly & sick people can be isolated & rest (schools & businesses) can carefully re-open. 13/

You will not enter my home. You will not perform any testing or treatment without my consent. You will stay away from my children.

No we are not. All services in the bill are voluntary, I’m not sure why you believe otherwise.

So if this becomes federal law you will have no authority to enter my home, test me, treat me against my wishes, or whatever “other means” means... if it’s optional, why do we need a law? And I sincerely appreciate your response - few lawmakers take the time

It’s a bill to secure funding, I have to explain what the funds are used for. This bill will expand OPTIONAL testing, create jobs by empowering community organizations to help in COVID efforts, and save lives. We wont enter your home unless invited. We definitely won’t remove you
