I expect bad times coming to Apple at some points. Whenever I meet new people in diverse area (research, education, corp, designers, programmers), not a single one is not pissed at Apple's pricing and lack of reliability/usability.

All are considering moving away Apple at some point if this continues. Never saw that before. People can deny what they want, dismissing they are the minority (the usual BD arg), but that's too many random people from so many different background that it's not small.

None follows Apple tech news. So no echo chamber. And by seeing how slow Apple react to their mistakes and design faults (when they do), when the trust is broken, it will take them 3/4y to turn over and it is going to be too late. I hope Tim's pipeline already forseen this.

It would actually be a smart for Apple to have alternate-strategy followups for both the forthcoming Mac mini and Mac Pro updates. Considering that we’re at 4-6 year delay for the first followup, let alone a second, we already know where this is going.

They already thought they knew what they were doing when they claimed that iPad was a serious contender for desktop computer replacement. We also know that they did not have any contingency in place in case that didn’t pan out.

Apple’s hubris-of-strategy is still operating as if Steve Jobs is picking the next winner. They’ve demonstrated they have no ability to pick a winner. Problem is, not only are they not picking winners, they’re not hedging against the possibility that their bet doesn’t pan out.

Steve Jobs himself didn’t successfully pick winners all the time either. But it feels like he was faster at pivoting to something that would work better.
